The Queen faces a “battle royal” with the Treasury by lobbying for the first increase in the Civil List for 20 years
The annual £7.9 million she receives from the taxpayer now only covers about half her day-to-day spending, according to royal accounts published today.
The Queen was forced to dip a record £6.4 million into her cash reserves last year to meet her bills, the figures show. This year she is expected to take £7 million from the pot due to rising costs.-o-O-o-O-o-O-o-
